Basic Lesson Plan – Encourage Sport Education and Independent Learning
Starter – Demonstrate Roles and procedure with one group emphasising safety
Main – students work through card and as you observe all groups on task (hopefully!)
Mini Plenary – Can be used to reinforce teaching points etc, demonstrations and also assessment time to check answers to questions
Extension – students who are pushing on can attempt the world record challenge and also the glide technique which again can be demonstrated or left as a discovery task for the more able/confident in the group
The difference between the basic and more advanced is basically a different starting point in technique and some more advanced questioning for the older year groups possibly supplementing GCSE/BTEC Anatomy and Physiology knowledge and understanding
After tweaking this card it is great to see the students work in teams and stay on task with roles and jobs which saves you a lot of teacher talk but allows you to drop into the groups as and when needed to do what we as teachers are trained to do so ill not go any further with that!
