Rounders Terminology resource to improve students understanding of key words associated with Rounders. It can be used to promote higher level discussion with correct terminology. It can be used in lessons as a poster or as a reference card.
This resource uses the ‘TGfU’ idea to teach rounders in physical education. The area should be split into 3/4 different areas so each game can be played safely at one time. Included is a table covering the basic tactics in rounders. There are also tactic cards for four one hour lessons. Start by giving the cards to students to learn about the game. Get them to look at the situations, then answer the questions. Play a game, then ask the students more questions. Then try a practice session and move into a game situation. This helps improve understanding of Irish Rounders / Softball and gets students thinking about what they should do as a batter or fielder. The questions and practice situations are also included. Both PDF and Word formats are available.
