Nathan Joyce is Head of Physical Education at Lockyer’s Middle School, working in a unique Years 5–8 setting that offers the opportunity to shape a PE experience across a distinctive phase of education. He has completed his NPQ in Leading Teaching, which has enhanced his ability to lead research-informed, sustainable change within his school and across a wider trust.

Nathan has successfully embedded the Head, Heart, Hands framework, creating a curriculum that prioritises inclusive, meaningful, and student-centred learning. He is now focused on reshaping PE curricula within a Multi Academy Trust, developing models-based approaches that challenge outdated perceptions of PE and support the development of transferable skills such as leadership, teamwork, and strategic thinking — preparing students for life beyond school.
