Kho Kho game card

This game card series is intended to support teachers and student led activities with a simple one page summary of suitable setup and rules for some of the games that can be very effectively implemented in schools. Care is needed when selecting which games best meet your intended outcomes and which cohorts of children will engage best with different types of game.

Kho kho originates from India and is a popular tag game in South Asia. It is played on a rectangular court, with two teams of nine players. Eight players in the chasing (attacking) team sit in the middle of the court, in a line, facing alternate directions, while one active chaser runs to tag runners. Each tag earns one point, and tagged defenders are ‘out’. The active chaser can pass the turn by touching a seated teammate and saying “kho”.

To give this tag game a go, take a look at the attached game card for full details on how to play.
