  • In-depth understanding of the grading criteria
  • Ideas for supporting students to choose their top three activities and generating evidence of performance
  • Preparing for a successful moderation process (Part 1 and 2)

Once enrolled you can complete the course in bite-sized chunks or all in one go with anytime anywhere access via our website.

You will be able to see the ideas and contributions of other participants via discussion threads along the way. You will also be invited to join the next live 60 minute Zoom meeting that will bring together others who have recently completed the online materials to collaborate, reflect on learning and ask questions of the course instructor. Our intention is to run one of these each term. We will share the next available date and time with you once booked on the course.

PE Scholar - Jackie Brookes

Jackie Brookes

Jackie achieved her AST in 2011 and continued to work as a lead practitioner, focussing on whole school teaching and learning. In 2016, after 16 years’ teaching, she left her position as second in department to pursue her ambition and founded PeActive.

She specialises in active teaching and learning, and her teacher workshops, student revision conferences and 1-1 tutoring reflect this, with a focus on raising engagement and maximising attainment. The sessions are well received thanks to the practical nature and array of fun, different and innovative ideas presented.

Jackie has taught all aspects of GCSE, A level and BTEC and specialises in physiology, whereby her engaging ideas allow students to grasp difficult concepts. She is fully involved in the examination and moderation process at GCSE, BTEC and A level and has been recognised for her ‘bespoke’and personalised in school package. Her experience allows her to adjust her delivery to suit the needs and outcomes of the department with AQA examinable PE.

Jackie is also a tutor for YST (Youth Sports Trust). Currently, she is completing most of her work on the Girls Active, and Game On and Shooting Stars inspired by Disney programmes, both of which target activity levels in girls. This is a topic that Jackie is passionate about, and she can use in school consultation strategies to support schools in embedding these powerful programmes and messages
