Course Overview

This comprehensive programme has been developed and tested over a 12 month period during lockdown to enable existing and aspirant subject leaders of physical education to challenge and transform their PE offer to be fit for every 21st century learner in their school.

We took a cohort of 100 through this programme from April to Christmas 2021 and it is now available as an anytime access course that has received high praise from the profession.

The programme brings ideas from research and practice to life through a rich variety of video clips, blog articles, low stakes quizzes and tasks. They have been expertly created to enable you to reflect on your current context and practice before sharing case study examples from a wide variety of schools to help you transform your offer.

You will be challenged to complete tasks and personalise frameworks through self-paced eLearning activities. Previous participants tuned in to group Q&A checkpoints but we are now offering you 3 x 30 minute 121 consultancy calls at a time that suits you during completion. We feel these will support your curriculum transformation and encourage one when you are just getting started with the content, one about module 6 and one once you have completed all 12 modules to help you plan for next steps. These 121s will be hosted via Zoom. The previous iteration of this course had group check-ins so we will leave those recorded sessions within the course as they are a helpful summary of content covered so far and conversations that these have prompted.

All participants will be expected to upload a resource to capture their learning and thinking at the end of some modules. In doing so, you will unlock access to a growing library of ideas to help progress and support your thinking further. For example, uploading your student friendly curriculum intent statement will enable you to see the library of visuals created by others.

Each module is fully asynchronous, meaning you can log on each week at a time that is convenient to you and you will have access to all content for 12 months or the life of your PE Scholar membership (whichever is longer). Consultancy 121s are not compulsory, but we encourage full participation to maximise learning and impact from this programme.

On completion of all 12 modules, you will be awarded a certificate.

Testimonials

The modules covered in great detail in this course are invaluable for heads of PE. By following some of these simple steps and guiding principles, our PE department had the opportunity to evaluate and reflect. We are now working towards a shared vision and following curriculum plans appropriate for all of our students. It has also been incredibly useful in preparing me for faculty quality assurance procedures and Ofsted deep dives. Will has a vast amount of experience and expertise in all of these key areas and I would highly recommend the course.

Sarah Johnson, Director of PE, The Redhill Academy Trust

“I would recommend every PE leader to complete this Curriculum Design in PE course. It is a transformative CPD journey that will challenge, engage and stimulate in equal measure. Will’s delivery is fantastic; passionate, knowledgeable and personable. The 1-2-1 sessions are of real value as it enables you to bring the learning to life ensuring maximum impact in your individual school context. The staff in our team felt it was the best CPD they have ever had. It is excellent value for money; making a real difference to the quality of PE delivery and the experience of young people within the schools they work with.
